Abstract

In July 2024, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in South Sumatra Province was 1.87 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.11. The highest inflation occurred in Palembang City at 2.09 percent with a CPI of 105.82 and the lowest occurred in Muara Enim Regency at 1.04 percent with a CPI of 106.69.
The y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 2.02 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 2.17 percent; health group by 1.92 percent; transportation group by 2.04 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 1.61 percent; education group by 2.86 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 1.59 percent; and personal care and other services group by 6.45 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index were: clothing and footwear group by 1.40 percent; household equipment, tools and routine maintenance group by 0.86 percent and information, communication and financial services group by 0.28 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate in South Sumatra Province in July 2024 was 0.29 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.35 percent.
