Abstract

  • The percentage of poor people in March 2023 was 11.78 percent, down 0.12 percentage points from March 2022, and down 0.17 points from September 2022.
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2022 was 11.23 percent, increasing to 11.37 percent in September 2022 and dropping to 11.07 percent in March 2023. Meanwhile the percentage of poor people in rural areas fell from 12.31 percent in March 2022 to 12.30 percent in September 2022 and decreased to 12.21 percent in March 2023.
  • The role of the food group on the Poverty Line is far greater than that of the non-food group (housing, clothing, education and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line (GKM) to the Poverty Line (GK) in March 2023 was recorded at 73.84 percent, down when compared to September 2022 conditions of 73.98 percent, and down when compared to March 2022 conditions which amounted to 74.34 percent.
  • Food commodities that have a major influence on the poverty line in urban areas are relatively the same as in rural areas, including rice, filter clove cigarettes, broiler chicken eggs, purebred chicken meat, sugar, instant noodles, red chilies, shallots, bread, and ground coffee & instant coffee (sachets). While non-food commodities are housing, gasoline, electricity, education, toiletries, adult women's clothing, skin care, face, nails, hair and health.
  • In the period March 2022 - March 2023, as well as the period September 2022 - March 2023, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) has decreased. The Poverty Severity Index (P2) in the period March 2022 - March 2023 has decreased, while the period September 2022 - March 2023 has increased.
