  • In the last one year period, March 2021-March 2022, Sumatra Selatan's poverty rate fell by 0.94 percentage points from 12.84 percent to 11.90 percent. Meanwhile, the number of poor people decreased by 69.07 thousand people from 1,113.76 thousand people to 1,044.69 thousand people. Compared to September 2021, Sumatra Selatan's March 2022 poverty rate also fell by 0.89 percentage points from 12.79 percent to 11.90 percent. Meanwhile, the number of poor people decreased by 71.92 thousand people from 1,116.61 thousand people to 1,044.69 thousand people.
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2021 was 12.36 percent, decreased to 11.99 percent in September 2021 and decreased to 11.23 percent in March 2022. Meanwhile, the percentage of poor people in rural areas rose from 13.12 percent in March 2021. to 13.28 percent in September 2021 and fell to 12.31 percent in March 2022.
  • The role of food groups on the Poverty Line is much greater than the role of non-food groups (housing, clothing, education and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line (GKM) to the March 2022 Poverty Line (GK) was recorded at 74.34, up from 74.16 percent in September 2021, and down when compared to 74.45 percent in March 2021.
  • Food commodities that have a major influence on the Poverty Line in urban areas are relatively the same as those in rural areas, including rice, filtered kretek cigarettes, purebred chicken eggs, purebred chicken meat, granulated sugar, instant noodles, red chilies, bread, shallots, and ground coffee & instant coffee (sachets). Meanwhile, non-food commodities are housing, gasoline, electricity, education, skin care, face, nails, hair, and toiletries.
  • In the period March 2021 - March 2022, as well as the period September 2021-March 2022, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and the Poverty Severity Index (P2) both decreased.
