Abstraction
 In March 2020 the number of poor people in South Sumatra Province reached 1,081.58 thousand people or 12.66 percent of the total population. Compared to the conditions in September 2019, the number of poor people increased by 14.42 thousand people from 1,067.16 thousand people, up 0.10 percentage point from 12.56 percent. Compared to the situation in March 2019, the number of poor people rose by 7.84 thousand from 1,073.74 thousand people, but the percentage dropped by 0.05 percentage point from 12.71 percent.
 The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2019 was 12.19 percent, down to 11.94 percent in September 2019 and rose to 12.16 percent in March 2020. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas decreased from 13.02 percent in March 2019 became 12.93 percent in September 2019 and rose to 12.96 percent in March 2020.
 The role of food groups on the poverty line is far greater than the role of non-food groups (housing, clothing, education and health). Contribution of Food Poverty Line (GKM) to Poverty Line (GK) in March 2020 was recorded at 74.49 percent, a slight decrease compared to September 2019 conditions at 74.71 percent and 74.56 percent in March 2019.
 Food commodities that have a major influence on the Poverty Line in urban areas are relatively the same as in rural areas, including rice, filter clove cigarettes, broiler chicken eggs, instant chicken eggs, instant noodles, granulated sugar, bread, ground coffee & instant coffee (sachets), red chili, red onion.
