Abstract


"In January 2012 there was inflation of 0.76 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 130.90 From 66 cities of CPI, 62 cities experienced inflation and 4 cities experienced deflation.The highest inflation occurred in Banjarmasin 2.92 percent with CPI 139 , 35 and the lowest occurred in Banda Aceh 0.02 percent with CPI 127.15 while the highest deflation occurred in Sorong 0.38 percent with CPI of 145.47 and the lowest occurred in Manado 0.13 percent with CPI 125.94. Inflation was due to price increases as indicated by the increase in index in the foodstuffs group of 1.85 percent; food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco 0.65 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.54 percent; health group 0,51 percent; education, recreation and sports group 0.15 percent and transportation, communication and financial services group 0.23 percent. While the clothing group this month experienced deflation of 0.08 percent. The inflation rate for calendar year (January) 2012 was 0.76 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2012 to January 2011) was 3.65 percent. The core component in January 2012 experienced inflation of 0.44 percent, the core inflation rate of calendar year (January) 2012 was 0.44 percent and core factor inflation year on year (January 2012 to January 2011) of 4.29 percent.
